I've considered using a fire extinguisher to fight off an attacker. The spray can surprise or blind attackers and when they're empty, you can then beat the attacker on the head.

The only issue I have with the plan is the pulling of the pin, specifically can I get it out in time? Because those pins usually have something holding them in. But once that's out, it's a relatively simple matter of charging in spraying, braving the cloud created by the extinguisher and then transitioning to melee. Showing mercy is optional.
