And now for something much more positive, researchers at the Wakefield Institute have developed a 3D Printer capable of repairing skin tissue. Basically it scans the injury with a laser, then fills in the missing areas with new healthy skin cells. Testing with small mammals and human analogs has been successful and the technology is currently awaiting approval for human test subjects.

I know that the issue of the current man in office is touchy at best, but I feel what happened just a few days ago deserves mention.

A rather vocal anti-Trump supporter decided to hang a flag in a secret location and live stream the flag for the duration of his presidency. The camera was setup so only the flag and sky were visible with no landmarks in the background, or even the ground.

4Chan took it as a challenge and quickly noticed commercial aircraft in the stream. Cross referencing with publicly available radar tracking, star maps, and a member who drove through the countryside blasting his horn; the flag was found and removed within two days. This article explains it a little better.

The end of an era

Overnight, USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62), an Arleigh Burke-class Guided Missile Destroyers, collided with the Japanese container ship MV ACX Crystal. 7 men on the USS Fitzgerald have perished, 3 more were airlifted with injuries, and the destroyer has significant damage above and below the waterline.

Comparing the damage to the USS Fitzgerald and the ACX Crystal shows just how small the destroyer is and how lucky it is not to have been pushed over by ACX Crystal, which was laden with 1,080 containers. While the investigation is still working out who was at fault, the US Navy is confident the USS Fitzgerald will return to service, possibly within a year.
