Sorry for the wait!
Chapter 4 - Choco!
Chapter 4 - Choco!
- Spoiler:
An odd feeling passes over the good king.
: What in the -
*Leon dashes out of his room*
I love how the guard at the top is all chill.
: What's going on?
Soldier: It's the Empire! Kefka, he -
Those traitorous bastards!
: Give me the girl now!
I only just realized how much bigger Leon's sprite was to Kefka's. And probably Gesthal's.
: I have no idea what you're talking about! Seriously! You have to be more specific then "the girl"! What girl? The high priestess? One of the maids? The girl you -
: SILENCE!
: Yessir.
: Anyway...enjoy the barbecue! Hee-hee-hee!
Soldier: Yes, sire!
*Soldier exits*
: It seems I have no choice...*goes over to the ledge and whistles*
: Or perhaps I do!
: How utterly delightful! Hee-hee-hee!
Remember how I said Leon was a chivalrous pervert? And you know how most of Figaro's population is female? He has to have some way to protect all of those women.
This is how.
By retracting Figaro Castle and sinking it into the desert.
Damn, old man Figaro was awesome. Awesome enough to pass it onto his sons, even.
Kefka, obviously, isn't too pleased.
And then, despite all choco-logic, a choco-battle happens on while on choco-back. Choco.
Edgar's choco-skill is Choco-skills, choco. It is one of the few choco-skills to have a choco-submenu, I believe.
It allows him to choco-use special choco-items, like Rikku's Use choco-skill in FFX, except no other chocobo can use it, choco. And it isn't a choco-fancy Item command, either, choco; while choco-Auto Crossbow has a "unit" choco-number, it cannot be used up, and can only leave your choco-inventory if sold. You can get more choco-tools by either choco-buying them or choco-finding them.
Choco-Auto Crossbow inflicts damage on all choco-enemies. I believe it, like many choco-skills that can only multi-target, ignores choco-split damage. Not shabby, I must say, choco.
If Terra/Sakura/Chocokura uses her choco-Magic skill in this choco-battle (or any subsequent choco-battles), a special cutscene plays.
+
Yes, Ruine. Like you haven't seen choco-magic before.
...oh.
*whisper, whisper*
...surprised him.
Choco-sh it, you've seen choco-magic before! Just not that type of choco-magic, choco.
Level up, choco. :I
And they all have a good choco-laugh about something, either that Sakura choco-jumped right back in her spot, or that she would choco-thank Ruine/Leon/both of them, choco.
They then proceed to obliterate the choco-magitek armors, choco.
Despite choco-dying with the choco-enemy animation, this used the choco-boss music and gave the choco-boss rewards of 0 Choco-EXP and Choco-Gil, and two choco-hi-potions. Two choco-items that restore more choco-HP then what everybody choco-has is always welcome, however.
There's also a choco-cutscene after the choco-battle where Kefka insults the party with "You son of a sandworm!" and Leon and Ruine convince Sakura to choco-visit their leader, boco. And so we will. Eventually. Choco.
When choco-riding, the world map switches to Mode 7 - a special choco-mode that is pseudo-3D, and the choco-closest to 3D you'll get from me until either choco-Sony stops being a choco-dick or Final Fantasy X-HD comes out over here, boco. While it's choco-impressive, it makes navigating the choco-map harder. The mini-map is your friend, choco.
That's it for today, choco! Next time, we'll meet the fourth member of our choco-party and scale a choco-mountain, boco!
...and this is why you make me stay away from the chocobos, choco.

Note to self: keep jokool away from the chocobos, choco.
Chapter 5 - HADOKEN!
Chapter 5 - HADOKEN!
- Spoiler:
When we last left off, our choco-party of three (choco-threesome, if you will) killed some choco-magitek armor and entered the world map on choco-back, with the choco-SNES's (now choco-GBA's) Mode 7 kicking in. Now, we're outside of a choco-cave, ready to kick some choco-ass.
To enter the choco-cave, the chocobo must be dismounted. Therefore, the word "choco" will never appear in this update ever again, and maybe not this LP. Depends on if we ever use chocobos ever again.
Where do you think he's heading?
: Through the cave, and eastward to South Figaro. We'll then make for the Returner headquarters in the north. Return to the castle and pass the word along.
Soldier: Understood, sire! Take care!
He then rides off on his chocobo.
This is the kind of damage Auto Crossbow can pump out. At this stage of the game, you'd be crazy to not use it.
From this battle, Sakura remembers that she can remove poison. Obviously useful.
Same shebang as FFV: heal HP and MP, and remove all status ailments, including KO. There's also a turtle, who I believe is there just for flavor. You cannot make it blow up.
Take the Auto Crossbow damage from above. Compare it to Sakura's Fire's damage. It does a good ~20+ damage above it, at least on these enemies.
We then get back on the world map, then go south to South Figaro. Wait, what?
Turns out, I remembered the events a bit wrong. We go through a cave, which isn't connected to a mountain at all, then go to South Figaro, then go to the mountain for our fourth party member. Eheheh.
We then follow this mysterious ninja guy into the Pub.
Name the ninja! His default is Shadow.
And we totally won't be getting him as a party member. No siree.
Also, I call bullshit. I saw his face in the PS1 FMV and I still live.

Chapter 5 - HADOKEN! (cont'd)
- Spoiler:
...this is the first time that we've actually used the default name.
Assassin, ninja, potato puhtato. (In FFTA/FFTA2, they are, in fact, counterpart jobs. Sort of. Ish. They both use status ailments and the same type of weapon, at least.)
In the SNES translation, this was "he'd slit his mama's throat for a nickel!" Nickels don't exist in FFVI, and this made Shadow seem too greedy, so they had to change it.
I love how Sakura's just standing there.

Merchant: These shoes double my walking speed!
In case you can't tell, he ran into the wall. This is more likely to happen in this version, as you can have Auto-Dash turned on.
Anyway, this shop is our first source for relics. Unlike the other equipment pieces, they don't modify stats (usually; some do, however, and some modify damage), but instead grant special passive abilities or slot in different commands.
Sprint Shoes add Auto: Dash, and are needed if you want to complete the game in a timely fashion in the SNES version, optional, but taking the pressure off the O button in the PSX version, and completely useless in this version. Silver Spectacles, Star Pendants, and Jeweled Ring add Null: Blind/Poison/Petrify, respectively. (Petrify is like KO; however, it keeps HP at the current value.) The Silver Spectacles (Goggles) were useless in the SNES and PSX versions due to the bug that makes magic evade also be physical evade. They were still useful for one character, though, who'll come up waaaaaaaaaaay later.
The Knight's Code is the only one I'll purchase; Petrify and Blind aren't huge problems (especially later), and Sakura can heal Poison if it ever comes up. It adds Cover, which makes the ability bearer take attacks for an ally in critical health (only physical, I think; but it might be single-target attacks). I slap it on Leon so he can protect Sakura (that and he has the highest HP).
Ahahahaha no.
They do have some pretty spiffy equipment, however, and two of Leon's tools. I don't recall what Noiseblaster does, but I believe Bioblaster is like Terra's Magitek skill Bio Blast: hits all enemies, takes no Split Damage, and Bios them.._.
...Leon had a mythril sword.
I bought one for Ruine.
Combined with the armor shop trip, our party is outfitted with this. You can now see Leon's stats; these are his raw stats (asides from his Attack, Defenses, and Evade), as the Knight's Code doesn't modify stats. I get the Noiseblaster for teh lulz.
Somebody already nicked this clock's Elixir!
Most (99%, give or take) of the clocks in the game have Elixirs, items that restore all of one party member's HP and MP. Obviously useful, and therefore not sold in shops (at least, as far as I got in the game).
Anyway, after a night in the inn, we head out to the Returner's hideout.
On choco-back, of course!
...why did the choco-game tell me this? I've already been on choco-back before, choco.
Do you think this is a common choco-sight? (Well, minus Ruine.)
This is where we'll leave off for now. Next time: I swear we'll get to the namesake of the episode.

Re: Active Time Battles! Magicite! Espers! THIS IS FINAL FANTASY VI!
Chapter 5 - HADOKEN! (cont'd ((again)))
- Monk-related goodness inside:
We left off here.
A bit into the cave, we see (I missed it) a black figure. Odd.
Let's chase 'im!
But...it's a plant enemy...and...
Why are martial art enemies random encounters?
To show them mercy, I run. Running in FFVI is truly unique: everybody runs seperately (i.e. Ruine would escape before Sakura, who escapes before Leon), leaving them actually still in battle and targetable and action-using. If you stop running, I believe the escapees don't return. I don't know, as I keep on using it to as when I run, I do it because I want to run.
I don't know what running and then clearing enemies out does for EXP, either. I might try it when I want to level up.
Why is a bridge leading into nothingness?
See? I told you I didn't steal some of Luma's acid tabs!
Pincer attacks can, in fact, happen in reverse. This may or may not be good, as a Cure spell can't hit all party members now.
Despite what it looks like, using attacks like Bio Blaster don't poison party members on the opposite side.
Save point! I take the chance to use a Tent, as a boss battle will be coming up.
Hey, who's that guy?
I'm starting to flee from battles more often so as to keep my EXP down. Since only HP and MP increase now on level ups, I just need to be more defensive.
What? No.
This is the guy who we followed. We initiate...in battle!
Aw man, he can summon bears! I want to summon bears.
Also, The Decisive Battle!
I kept on forgetting to screenshot it before I couldn't, but while the ipoohs (heh) live, Vargas can't be targeted. Not even by hit-all spells.
When he says this, he'll follow up with a two-hit attack. Or maybe it's an attack that hits all party members one at a time. I dunno, 'cause Leon's dead and I have 0 Phoenix Downs left.
This attack, called Gale Cut, deals slightly stronger damage.
Sakura's Magic is key to this fight. Fire can do over 100 damage, and Cure is Cure.
Eventually...
: Enough of this!
: I, Vargas, shall knock you all down!
Someone comes to save us. It's enough for Leon to stand up even though he has 0% fighting spirit. Go on, guess who it is.
If you guessed Shadow, you're wrong.
: Ah, if it isn't Ryu!
Wait for it...wait for it...waaaaaaaaaaaait for it...
Goddammit, kids these days! No respect for their elders! Why, in Macbeth's day, killing your father would've resulted in a beating and being chased to England! If they caught you, then you'd be beaten and hung! England was only the limit because they couldn't beat and hang someone for killing his or her father in England when the crime took place in Scotland.
Can you see why I chose to represent Vargas?
Ryu then says that Duncan wanted Vargas to be his successor. Vargas says he's a liar.
Vargas then uses his technique, Blizzard Fist, which ejects everyone not a martial artist out of battle. So now we fight Vargas with Ryu.
Doom Fist deals damage and activates a Doom counter on Ryu. It ticks down every second. When it hits 0, Ryu dies and Game Over.
So we Blitz Out.
Blitz is Sabin/Ryu/Rybin's special skill. When it's activated, a pointer shows up next to Ryu. We're then to enter a button command. For this Blitz tech, Raging Fist, you have to input Left Right Left.
You can't use any Blitz as long as you know the button combo, though. As Sabin levels up, he learns/thinks of new Blitz techs. These show up under the "Blitz" submenu in "Abilities".
Vargas is surprised that Sabin knows Blitz. Sabin replies that if Vargas stayed, he'd learn how to enter button sequences and punch stuff.
Vargas then joins his father.
The twins reunite! Now they can join their forces together and execute a super powerful attack!
Just kidding.
Sakura also calls Ryu a bear. He takes it as a compliment. Oh Sakura.
Now, you may be saying, "Lief, you still haven't gotten to Hadoken."
...wait, let me try that again.
Down down left, bitches.
(Or down down-left left. But I prefer the former.)

This Let's Play's not dead yet!

Chapter 6 - Not old men are as cool as Galuf
- I mean, this one's allergic to phoenix downs:
We start off this update by showing off the last of Ryu's Blitz techs, Meteor Strike (Suplex in the SNES and PSX versions.) It does this, somehow lessening in power if there's more then one opponent. It's also one of two Blitz techs that actually work off of the Strength stat - all others use Magic. (The other one is - surprise surprise - Raging Fist.)
...
To use Meteor Strike, one must enter the button combo of R-L-Down-Up.
To continue on this adventury adventure of adventureness, you gotta go to this cave.
Yep, the Returners hide out in a cave.
But Ruine's in the front! D:
Nevertheless, we follow him.
He abruptly stops and motions for us to go forward.goddaSave point.
: Should we really be stealing
: Treasure hunting!
: when he's right in front of us?
: Relax, it's for the greater good.
: *walks up to Sakura* So, this is the girl...the one to whom the esper responded.
: Esper...?
*whump*
: It seems the Empire had complete control over her.
: I also heard that she wiped out fifty imperial soldiers in mere minutes...
: *walks over to the table and hangs her head* No, that's not...!
(I question why they'd use that as an exercise/test/testercise. It cuts down the army by 50 soldiers, which is like, what, 1/8th of a unit?)
: For heaven's sake, Banon, the girl doesn't remember anything!
: *turns around* Hiding from the truth won't change it! Perhaps you've heard this story before? *walks to Sakura* Once, when people were still pure and innocent, there was a box they were told never to open...But someone went and opened it anyway, unleashing all of the evils of the world...Pride...envy...greed...wrath...gluttony...
(You forgot sloth there, chief. Which people do suffer from. This update is an example.)
: The only thing that remained in the box was a single ray of light: hope.
: ...
: Your power is a gift, not a curse. You must always remember that.
(...that relates to the story how? Actually, how does the story relate to all of this?)
: You are this world's last ray of light...our final hope.
(...oh.)
Leon, why did you just yell out Banon's name?
: I've grown weary within the hour...allow me to rest for a while.
That's where we're ending the update for now. Next time: a beautiful relic.

There's more. Ever since FFIV, it's an unwritten rule that you always get three female party members - no more, no less.

One of them can use magic like Sakura (except she leans more on ice and support magic), and can absorb magic with her sword. The other can "sketch" a monster and use one of its attacks against it (with a special relic, she can control them instead).

Re: Active Time Battles! Magicite! Espers! THIS IS FINAL FANTASY VI!
Chapter 7 - Dual Wield, Spell+Blade - GAH OCTOPUS
- I originally got stuck on this part as a kid:
why did I originally put this as chapter 4
When we last left off, our heroine and hero persons met up with the leader of the Returners, Banon (which is actually a girl name. I don't see why they didn't use Bannon, which means something that I forgot and at least is not feminine as it's six letters on the dot). Today, we get a rocking relic and beat up sea life! ONWARDS!
After waking up in her room with Ruine, Sakura grabs this.
: If no one stands up to the Empire, more people will be left like me. That's why I joined the Returners.
Interesting bit of backround from Ruine. As this is a good RPG, we'll actually delve into this more (well, it's optional, but it's still there).
Sakura then notes that she has no one who cares for her or who she cares for. I...think this was Ruine trying to convince Sakura to join the Returners. Ruine then says she's wrong and there's people out there for her and stuff.
Sakura then leave to explore the base.
In a room to the north, we find these. A Phoenix Down is always nice, but come on, we already got a Knight's Code!
The Air Knife is
Well, you can figure it out from the .gif. It's also one of the few sources of wind damage that will sadly - invariably - get phased out as we go along on our journey.
: He always thought of my needs before his own, ever since we were little. You should trust him, too.
But don't tell him I said that! He'll turn as red as a tomato!
Ryu, something's wrong with you. That would be hilarious.
He then laughs it off. ...
Leon's hidden.
: And if we force our ideas on you, we're no different from the Empire. So...we want you to decide for yourself.
No matter what, we're going to have to go along with the plot. It's an SNES RPG, though; what did you expect?
After a while of wandering around and not finding Banon, I decide that he's outside. We need to talk with him to continue on with PLOT!.
An option to tell him yes or no pops up. I say no. Banon expresses sadness and we go back inside.
The process is repeated twice more.
On the third try, Banon gives up.
: Well, if you gave me a relic that let someone use two weapons...
Upon getting back inside, Sakura is having trouble realizing how useful setting fire to something with your mind can be.
Uh-oh!
:onguard: Wounded: S-South Figaro...Th-the Empire's...t-taken South Figaro...They're headed...this way...
: So they've found us...We haven't a moment to lose!
: Ruine!
: I know..."Someone" has to sneak into South Figaro to slow down the enemy, right?
: This is right up your alley. We're counting on you.
: ...And watch out for a certain lecherous young king who shall remain unnamed. The guy moves in like a hawk!
...there's only one king here, named or not.
: Ruine!
And he's right there.
Ruine leaves, and Leon spazzes out.
: Leon... Old habits die hard, eh?
: What about us?
: We can escape down the Lethe River and make our way to Narshe. I'm curious about that esper they found in the mines...
: Very well. I'll ready the raft by the back entrance. It's risky, but we don't have much of a choice at this point.
: *to Sakura* It's not safe here. Come with us to Narshe...It could be a chance for you to gain a better understanding of your abilities.
*Sakura nods*
: We've no time to dilly-dally. Let's make for Narshe!
And then, because we were reluctant to join the Returners in their quest to beat the everliving shit out of the Empire...
Obtained Genji Glove!
It is awesome.
"But Lief!" you might cry out. "It only raises defense by 5 points! How is it awesome?"
Look at the description box. If you still can't figure it out, it gives the passive ability Dual Wield. This allows a character to wield two weapons (obviously). While for right now you'll only put it on characters who will actually attack (example: you'd put it on Sakura or Ruine, but not Leon or Ryu), once weapons start giving out stat bonuses to things not named attack you can effectively double that bonus. Of course, if you have a shield that matches or surpasses that bonus, you'd want to equip that instead, but.
Anyway, yeah. This sits in our inventory for now.
Banon also joins our party:
While he boasts a pretty awesome attack score, that's not his main purpose. His special ability is Pray, which allows him to basically cast Cura on the party for 0 MP. This is a much better version of Pray then what was shown in Final Fantasy IV (except in the DS version, where it's mostly better), but the trade-off is Banon will only be in our party for a short while. This also means we can't jack his equipment to use for ourselves.
We board the raft. Not much to show you.
Oh, except this. Apparently Banon's allergic to Phoenix Downs. But it's not like it'll be a problem, right?
WRONG! ...is what I would say if Banon didn't have Pray.
Some monsters here have the Ink ability, causing Blind. This wasn't a problem in the original SNES version because somebody fucked up (we went over this, right?) except for one character, but here it's mildly more dangerous (for people who actually physically attack, which Banon is not one of).
Also Pray.
And this. Go straight to continue.
why the fuck are there dragons
That is the damage from Aura Cannon. Sabin might not have an impressive Magic score, but Aura Cannon's power makes up for it.
Save point! We use a Sleeping Bag on Sakura and Banon (who were the only ones who needed it anyway) and save.
Now, any Final Fantasy veteran knows what a Save Point means 90% of the time.
This is the rare 10% where that does not happen.
The second save point does not disappoint, however.
Meet the recurring boss of the game: Ultros! He is an octopus.
After some taunting, the fight begins. Of course, with all the taunting, our ATB gauges fill up.
Hitting Ultros with Fire (which I believe he's weak to) causes this message to pop up, followed up by Ink. Blind doesn't affect magic, remember, so Ultros is stupid.
When Ultros attacks, he says a few lines telling you who's going to be attacked (seen above; he's targeting Sakura, in case your usage of pronouns is a bit rusty). He then follows up with his tentacle attack, hitting for massive damage. Thankfully, I have Phoenix Downs.
Hurting Ryu.
Hey, I got a shot of his tentacle!
He can also use Tentacle as a group attack, which lessens the damage
by quite a bit. Still a credible threat though, as he follows it up with a regular attack.
Ink. It also does damage.
Hey man, there's a lot of messed up things about Leon but his mugshot is not one of them.
...oh. He was talking about Banon.
Well fuck. Let's try that again, shall we?
Freaking finally. That took, like, three tries! Screw you, Banon and your allergicness to Phoenix Downs.
So, I'm tired, and I'm ready for this update to be done, so I'll just describe the rest: Ultros hides in the water, grabs Sakura, fails to get her, Ryu tries to Blitz it, fails, and goes to the other side of the river, away from the rest of the group.
So, we now have three options of where to go in the story: check in on Ruine, follow Sakura, Leon, and Banon, or see how Sabin's doing.
So choose a scenario, kupo! (If no scenarios are chosen, the order will be from the most party members gained to the least. It'll go Ryu > Ruine > Sakura and co..)
That's all for now! ...so yeah.I had this on for so long, the old quicktopic style is still being used. ._.

Re: Active Time Battles! Magicite! Espers! THIS IS FINAL FANTASY VI!
Remember this?
Chapter 8 - Metal Gear Ruine
Chapter 8 - Metal Gear Ruine
- Or something like that, anyway:
Quite some time has passed since we last saw our bandanna-wearing companion. He has either successfully slowed down the Empire or failed horribly doing so (depending on a) how much you like Ruine b) which one adds more drama or c) how much you like drama). Either way, they're on to him, which means he has to get out of Figaro, quick.it's actually a decentish way to slow down the Empire; if they're focusing on you, then you can draw their fire away from the hideout
I have this scene engraved in my mind.
Despite the chapter title, this is not the mandatory stealth segment needed in every game for some stupid reason. Heck, I don't think there IS one. Much better then Dragon Quest VI, where it had an infuriating (for me) stealth segment that I couldn't get past. It was plot-mandatory. I ended up selling the game back to GameStop. Seriously, fuck that sequence.
On the topic of this game, talking to them will only net a response like this. Even though this is the soldier that was chasing Ruine. Maybe he's a bit slow.
First things first, locate ye olde item shoppe.
The woman inside will tell Ruine hateful lies. Well, there is one soldier that does that, but...
This merchant is the reason you want to come in here. Random fact: in the SNES and PSX version, Ruine told him he'd rip his lungs out for calling him a thief. Not only is this not in the Japanese script, this was from when Nintendo actively promoted itself as family friendly by censoring religious references (the spell Holy became either Fade (FFI), White (FFIV), or Pearl (FFVI, although arguable Ted did this for shits and giggles) for example), covering up naked-ish women (it exists!), and censoring blood and death 'n stuff (Death, for example, was translated as "Rub" in FFI, even though "Kill" is only 4 characters; there are no female Black Mages in that game for the implications, although it started to lessen in later Final Fantasy games.) ...yeah...
Anyway, enough about the oddities of Nintendo's censorship policies. The merchant is...a merchant. He always starts off the battle with a weak attack that does an entire 8 damage to Ruine (and that's the first thing that happens in battle, too...he must've synthesized First Strike onto his weapon). Now, you COULD beat him like every other enemy in the game. But that doesn't progress the story.
Instead, you must successfully steal his fancy hat.
Because the merchant insulted his honor, Ruine steals his honor (his clothes). As a note, I think Ruine is kind enough to leave his underwear in all languages.
Ruine then proceeds to scar the merchant by changing right in front of him...that is, if JRPG clothes-changing didn't involve just spinning around once or twice, if that.
Relieved of his clothes, the merchant - now known by the alias "birthday suit" - runs...
...into a wall. Thankfully, he loaded the wall with an extra merchant suit, which would automatically pop out of the walls and put themselves on the person who ran into it. This got really awkward to explain when a female suddenly got dressed in (tight) merchant's clothes when she accidentally ran into the wall.
You *can* refight him, in case you didn't know you were supposed to steal his stuff (which most players probably won't do, given that steal doesn't hurt and there's no one else in the party at the moment to add to the hurt).
I also equip Ruine with the Genji Glove, making him hurt incarnate...if the Genji Glove didn't decrease attack damage by a bit...and I think the two attack stats are applied seperately...so...
And yeah, he only has 99 defense. ...that just means his attack his higher then his defense.
Random fact: the soldier's response changes to "I'm not buying anything!" if Ruine is wearing his merchant uniform.
The purpose of getting the merchant's uniform is so this little brat will move out of the way. For some reason, he decided only merchants can pass. Ruine passes as a merchant.
Hey, remember when I said only one guy will attack you? I lied! There's also this guy. I ran.
THIS is the guy you have to fight.
Same thing as the merchant; to complete the scenario, you steal an item of questionable worth...
...and his clothes.
I find it odd that Ruine left the soldier's underwear on, given that he's a soldier of the Empire. Then again, it's possible that he just didn't want to see his manly parts...ew ew ew god why
As an odd note: Ruine does his victory dance after he steals the merchant's clothes, but not the soldier's. Hm.
There's also this: a one-shot ticket to get out of a dungeon. As the game states in the description, there's also a magic version of it called - guess what - Teleport.
Also of note: if Ruine talks to the guard that attacked him earlier, he'll just say his line and not attack Ruine. Probably because it would be bad form to attack a fellow soldier.
You are then to talk to this idiot so you can access the lower part of town.
The choco-stables are sadly blocked, as are the exits.
Thankfully, there's another way out. To the pub!
Instead of drinking grog and trying to embarrass the dancers, we set a good example and mug a merchant of his cider and merchant gear.
What?
If I remembered to do so earlier, you would've seen an old man on the floor above the pint-sized brat. He'd say he wanted some cider. I didn't because the sequence to do it in is inscribed in my brain. Seriously, it's been like a year since I did this last. I'd usually forget about stuff by now.also evidently there are NOT dancers up there
Evidently somebody mentions the secret passage. I certainly forgot about that, but I don't think I ever asked anybody about it.
...really?
The kid, thankfully, gives us three choices for the password. I would've liked if one of the choices was "Wild Rose", but alas. "Rosebud" is pretty close, though... (You get a cookie if you know which game I'm referring to.)
However, rosebud is not the password. Failure is also obviously not the password. If you're new at this, you'd have two guesses. Now that you know it's not rosebud, it's obviously courage.
And so he does.
We then automatically pass below ground.
Yes! Your beautiful bounty shall not escape me, clock!
We're behind the house. We're going to go into the door in front of the house.
After we rob the barrel of its loot, of course.
The guards don't really care about Ruine. Who just came in from a door. That they thought led to nowhere.
There's also no music. It's really fucking creepy.
The guard downstairs mentions that someone helped them get in. This is that guy. He is a huge fucking dick no matter how sorry he is.
Getting near the book case had you hear howling wind. Or something like it, anyway. This is one of those puzzles that are really only puzzles because of the perspective - Ruine here would notice the stairs.
These stairs lead to an underground passageway.
After going a little bit in, this comes up. Ruine takes his disguise off. Not that it matters - you'd take it off anyway.
Ruine peeped inside the room and muttered how he saw a chick in there before...
...and realizes she's one of the Empire's generals.
Wait, what?
How did Ruine see the chick?! Does he have some sort of special ability that allows him to see overhead like the camera? And even before the guy spoke, it was clear that he was talking about the chick. One, he used "she". Two, a general of the Empire does NOT get the same sprite as a guard. And three, she was in Sakura's flashback sequence way back when.
See? Closest one to Sakura.
I think Ted Woosley's translation said she had a "heart as pure as snow" or something. This makes more sense, honestly. Sorry, Ted.
Anyway, this chick needs a name! Her default is Celes, and she is one of the three playable women in the game!
...what? You think we would get to name her and not be able to control her eventually...? Nonsense.
