The Quiet Year v1

For a long time, we were at war with The Jackals. But now, we’ve driven them off, and we have this – a year of relative peace. One quiet year, with which to build our community up and learn once again how to work together. Come Winter, the Frost Shepherds will arrive and we might not survive beyond that. But we don’t know about that yet. What we know is that right now, in this moment, there is an opportunity to build something.

This is a game that is normally 2-4 players but we can do it with more as well.

Basically we take turns describing the struggles of a post apocalyptic community and stuff happens...wow that was vague...

So is a lot with this game so I'll highlight the main stuff now!

At the start we each add one major feature to the map, in other words the terrain!
We then pick resources the people NEED and decide which is abundant...the rest are scarce...

Then play begins.

You receive a card, chosen at random, which has instructions or a choice that has to be made, and these will change the fates of the peoples.

Then you can pick one of 2 things:
  • Discover something new: Something is found by the people, or perhaps there is a new situation! Add it to the map and say what's up
  • Start a project: The people begin a project that will take multiple weeks to complete! Longest is 6 weeks and shortest 2.
    Note: When the number of weeks runs out and the project is done, whomever's turn it is gets to decide how it went


Then your turn ends as so does that week and then the next person gets a card.

We ourselves are not villagers or people of the village but instead observers, onlookers, weavers of fates etc. though we can give random villagers names and roles, will heroes rise, families live and peace reign? Or will fear give in and all hopes and dreams fade.... that falls to us...and the cards....

as the needs. Now we have an abundance of one of em and the rest we have a scarcity of. Vote now for the abundance!

Also where should we put the village on the island?
