Re: The Crystal Room
Anybody interested in being a healer? I got romch FFXIV and he's going to be rolling ninja (dps), and given that Mey also ninjas and I tank, so all we need to be a functional TPPS party is a healer.
(...or I guess they could tank and I could heal. But.)

Re: The Crystal Room
Would removing the base game's cost be incentive enough, or is the subscription fee too much even without paying for the base?

Question about that subscription: If you miss a month or drop out for a while, does it hurt anything?
Also, before you do anything, let me try the free demo first to see if I can actually play the game.

Another question: I was looking over the demo on Steam and saw that there were a ton of negative reviews about it. Something about having to have separate accounts if you want to continue playing or something like that. Should I just go to the official website to try FFXIV, or do you guys not have any issues with it on Steam?

Re: The Crystal Room
I have no idea. I don't play it with Steam. :V

Re: The Crystal Room
Hmmm... Okay, it looks like there's no demo on the official website, just the free trial. I hate to waste a free trial if my computer isn't strong enough to handle the game, so I may download the Steam demo unless it really screws up things.
@Meyneth it looks like you downloaded the demo, but I don't see the actual game on your page either, so I'm assuming you also play off of the official site? If so, did you have to make a new account or anything after the demo was over, and was there any issues if you did?

Okay, I think I'll be downloading the Benchmark to see if the game can run first. I'll probably do that tomorrow when I'm off from work and have time.

Re: The Crystal Room
Yeah, the benchmark is probably your best bet for making sure you can play the game.

Re: The Crystal Room
The problem people had with the steam demo (if I remember correctly) is that your account would be linked to steam. So you couldn't go and buy a physical copy or something else, you would have to pay through steam.
and I am always happy to heal, though I'm not sure how long I would be able to keep the subscription going. I would just pick up my last character so I wouldn't be starting from the beginning though

Re: The Crystal Room
Yeah I Downloaded the Demo ages ago on a old commuter that could not play it. I ended up buying a code from Amazon when it was on sale. I recommend getting it not from steam, since you're locked into steam sales and only buying from steam and I don't know if the time cards work with the steam version. And with the non steam version* you can buy from various sellers, like Amazon, Walmart, or The Square Enix Store itself.**
*The "Versions" are identical from what I can tell, just buying and paying is different for each one.
**Note that the links are to listing of the A Realm Reborn and Heavensward bundle. There are other ways to buy.

Re: The Crystal Room
- benchmark results:
The scenes were very laggy and had about 10-20 fps at best, and it would really dip down low when there was a lot on screen (like battles, a large thing moving, or a large group on screen at once).
Not saying it's unplayable, but, most likely, it would be a bit frustrating if the actual game is anything like this (or worse...).
Add to that the subscription fee I'd have to pay to actually play this past the free trial... I don't know...

Re: The Crystal Room
If you can't play it(/don't want to/can't pay the subscription fee), that's fine and understandable. I'm certain that I can get another member into the TPPS FFXIV cult anyways.
Certain.
Certain.
