Just Rolled Into The Shop
My shop just had it's busiest Thursday in like a month. Thursdays for the past few months have been slow since one of our inspectors quit, leaving us without an inspector after 4 pm and Thursday and Sunday until we managed to borrow one from another store for Sunday. How this impacts me is that many customers walk in for an oil change when their inspection/emissions is also up. With no inspector they just turn around and leave for another store, up to 30 customers every Thursday.
Today was quite different from the normal laid back Thursdays. We had 7 or 8 four tire tickets, plus a bunch of flat repairs. On top of this, largely because school starts next week, we had not one, not just two, but six school/after-school buses/vans come into the shop. From Christian day care (one of our best customers operates a number of small buses built on Chevy Express 3500 cutaway-vans), to a karate after-school camp with their full-sized commuter vans.
Most of the buses were for oil changes, one was for an AC diag (shop slang for diagnosis) and I'm not sure about the sixth. Meh I guess seventh if you count the bus presently at our preferred Transmission rebuilding shop (we outsource engine and transmission rebuilding).
One of the karate vans was more interesting.
One last thing, today was the last day for one my coworkers (who also gave me the picture through email) and I wish him luck in his apprenticeship.
