How should base damage be calculated?
Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
I will include every sidequest in the game for the characters I previously mentioned, just with different backstories and stuff.
and meyneth still has to be the superboss, that was decided as a concrete thing in the last game.
I personally preferred the original base script though.

and maybe add one for caprizant depending on if he still is plot-important or not.

Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
- lux's previous story script:
- I'd at the very least like some more confirmations on my character ideas so I can go on with the story outline ;-;
though I'm trying to decide which of the 4 groups would be best to start with:
Lief and romch arriving into this new world and discovering the resort part(water cooler)
Lima sneaking onto the planet and finding Lux's egg(encountering one or two emotes to fight, or watch them easily defeat a monster she had trouble with) and learning about why this place is accessible from most dimensions
Bunny and Greece landing on the planet and learning they have no gas then have a little fight between the two(actually think this should go first, thus explaining the battle system)
Jokool and TS crashing onto the planet and finding out that the Grand Opening has been delayed.
So after typing this and thinking as I go this is the order so far:
Greece/Bunny land, find out there is no gas and fight, explaining the battle system as they go, then the battle is interrupted by them hearing a crash then cue cut scene to a few minutes earlier as Jokool and TS crash and then deal with the immediate threat of a few monsters and go search for salvagable parts and run into greece/bunny. Then a scene of Lief/romch appearing near the resort with the high tech stuff and pissing off a few of the automated services and getting attacked, once they win the others find them and TS is angry that they broke the communications system.
Then jump to Lima in the woods, monolouge about the mission and hearing crying, she explores the area, fights monsters, finds Lux's egg and is then attacked by a strong foe, defeats it then hears more coming and hides only to see two emotes appear, talk about how they have to find an egg to smash it and kill what's inside when the monsters appear and they easily take em down. Lima decides to try to save the egg and runs off towards the resort area.
Switch over to the group at the resort and they explore the area salvaging parts and then build a communications device once they get the parts they need but can't send out a signal, instead only receive a transmission from The Voice(Lima's group which simply wants to expose hidden information to the universe and remove secrecy) mentioned the plan to spy on the Council(transmission is staticy so the bits they hear make it sound more like an assasination plot rather than a simple wiretapping, maybe something like: "council members have no- re time- their rooms and set up- set it on a timer so that t- have a blast! Those fools will be -ed-" which is interpreted by the group as "The council members have no more time. Go to their room and set up a bomb on a timer so they will have a blast! Those fools will be dead" when the message Lima got was The council members have not arrived yet, you have more time to get into their rooms and set up the wiretaps. Be sure to set it on a timer so that the memory does not fill up too fast. We know you love this stuff so you should have a blast! Those fools will be exposed and their faces will be so red!") Then they see Lima and think she's the assasin so they attack her (its a battle and during it its a fight between Lux/Lima vs the part, lima's stats are boosted during the battle and if lux is attacked(during the fight Lux gets high def) lima's attack stats go up.
thoughts so far?
also maybe we could have some 'chemistry boosts' where if certain members are in the fighting party they get slight boosts such as:
The pointy end: Jokool, TS together gives a slight atk boost
Sister Sister: Greece and Bunny gives the two a slight special boost
Maternal Instinct: having Lima and Lux gives Lima a slight def/atk boost (no effect on Lux)
Friendly Rivals: romch and Lief gives a slight speed boost
whatcha think?
I just am NOT happy because this was my idea back 2 years ago and now it's getting tampered with when I thought we all had everything figured out
I'm just partial to the original script and ideas is my point.

Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
Here's the thing, though - we had next to nothing set in stone. The only part of the old script that was actually written was the first two scenes of the game. The only important thing that happened? Greece and Bunnies getting into a fight. Even then, "important" might be stretching it.
We have a different writer now, who has different ideas for the world she's creating. Some of those might not mesh with the plans we laid out for the original script. That should be okay! Look at Final Fantasy XV - it's clear that changes happened during its production.
One more thing:
Changes happen. Deal with it.

One more thing:
You do not have that power. I'm the one with the .rpgproject file for the game. I'm the one who's putting all of this crap into the game, making sure it becomes a finished project. And by god, if you throw a fit about Apocrypha not making sure that all of your sidequests are capable of being in the game, I will make sure that none of them are in the game.I will include every sidequest in the game for the characters I previously mentioned
Changes happen. Deal with it.

and it just wouldn't feel right to include only certain sidequests of former major pit stoppers, because what if one shows up and wants to be added but can't because we are done with them?
I'll try to be open to removing certain sidequests and editing them, but no guarantees I won't get angry about it.
sorry about this.

Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
at least keep mey's sidequest as superboss in (we don't have to keep backstory or anything other than mey being a dragon who can take human form) so we can fit the superboss staple of RPGs, then we'll talk about removing others and changing other still

Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
Do you have ideas for appearances yet Lief?
unrelated, was thinking it'd be funny/sucky for me to be weak to normal attacks that don't have elements, why? A dream would then be weak to the mundane, to reality :D

Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
I was going to base it off of the Miis of the people I have, mixed with the "class" that they're from. Only exception is Apocrypha, because she sent me an appearance, and me, because...well...
Probably going to make the base sprites (overworld and sideview sprites) with the character creator, then have the portraits drawn regularly.
Also I can't make you weak to non-elemental attacks, because they're...well...non-elemental. I can make you weak to Phys attacks, and I can make you weak to physical-type abilities, but I can't actually make you weak to non-elemental attacks.
...If I could (probably by making a quote-non-elemental-endquote element), you'd probably be the first character in the history of video games to actually be weak to non-elemental attacks.

Re: How I Stopped Procrastinating and Learned to Make a Game Again
Random question though: Do side quests have to relate to plot at all? Like, technically couldn't we add some side quests with those characters/members just to give a potential player something to do if they wanted to backtrack? Like, it could give you useful items or random tidbits of playable characters if you did want to do them, but won't be necessary for game completion unless you were going for 100%...?
Unrelated to plot/sidequests, I am still willing to put some effort into this. I just don't want to slow down production of this, as it's really starting to move along now, and I am needing to write a blog post that could cause potential issues with helping on an artist's standpoint...
