Re: The "Cheer Me Up" Thread
I feel sad after reading through some of Nerd3's recent tweets...
He was asking everyone to name an upcoming big name game. Most of the responces were for good sounding games (to me anyway), but Dan would counter it by mentioning that they were either sequels, shooters, or other things that have been done many times.
So, moral of the story: Big name gaming companies really don't have many new ideas to offer. It's just the same things we've seen over and over again, just with a different coat of paint to make it pretty...
So yeah, after thinking about that, I feel sad because now I feel like I have nothing new to look forward to anymore...
Then I thought about indie games, because they tend to come with unique ideas, but indie stuff has it's problems too, like crappiness, incompleteness, bugs, flaws... But most of these problems can be pinned to Steam nowadays for Greenlight and Early Access...
Sooooooo..... Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh..... Not feeling good about the future of gaming (and my gamer/LPer future).....

Even if the games are sequels, they can still be pretty kickass. If you can't be excited for a game just because it's a sequel, that's your own fault.
Plus, as time goes on, it really is hard to come up with 100% fresh ideas. But you can still take those ideas and make them fresh, offer up new ideas to add on and spins on old ones. Not every game has to be "fresh" to be good - the appeal of some games is that they appeal to old-school style play, for example.

Joey, get your hands on xenoblade chronicles, any version, then remember that for years jrpgs were considered boring and overdone then that game came around and proved jrpgs can still be amazing
I am also looking forwards to splatoon and a bunch of other neat games
Games don't have to be 'new' to be good. Games have to be good to be good. I've found so many fun games when it comes to indies as well, you just need to buy games after they are done being early access. It's all about the heart in the game
