Managed to beat him using Fafnir's Accelerate -> Resonate 4 + Meteor Smash + Akashic Nova.

Which is worryingly similar to how I finished off the Overlord.

I guess so.

actually I just now remembered that I poked him to death with Regin but having the Fafnir finish him makes for a much better story

Hey!  Nerds!  What's Etrian Oddessy about, and which game would you recommend first if I were to play it?

Also, what are the platform for said games!

So, it's a dungeon crawler/RPG where you explore and map out a huge labyrinth (or several smaller ones in IV) while killing monsters and getting materials for better equipment.

IV would be the best to start with, imo

The first three are on the DS, while the fourth game and the first two's remakes (the Untold games) are on the 3DS.

I'd agree with Charles that IV is the best place to start. I'm personally a fan of III, but even if you'd be in for the hardness and/or relatively clunky mechanics it's hella hard to find (I had to drive to Florissant to get a copy!), whereas the 3DS games are all available on the eShop and have many sales.

Are you sure I shouldn't start with Untold 1?

Untold 1 is kinda...mediocre. Don't want to have a bad start, do you?

Untold 1 is shitty, but also has enough Quality of Life features that it's worse playing EO4 after it.

They're basically like Final Fantasy games anyways in terms of connectivity, the only twist is that they're still set in the same world as each other.

I'll get 4, then.  Putting it on my wish list.

^ What do you mean about the connectivity? *knows virtually nothing about the FF series besides the music*

Basically that the stories don't actually follow each other.

Unrelated, I got access to subclasses in EOIII! :toot:Now I'm trying to figure out what to sub my Buccaneer as; I got a sub for everyone but him. Probably will be Gladiator, but my Arbalist is already subbing Gladiator...

iirc Shogun's a decent class for Bucky. Dunno which route you're planning on taking though.

I denied that the Deep City existed and said I wouldn't say it existed, so... I think I got denied on getting Shogun.

Not yet. The game will more or less tell you when you reach the deciding point.

Do I unlock the class when I hit the deciding point?
