[Blind] Legend of Zelda: Oracles (Part 7—Beware the Forest's Bunnies!)
- Table of Contents:
Hello everybody! Welcome to my new let's play of *drumroll*... The Legend of Zelda: Oracles! I am your host, Caprizant. I'll start off with some talk about the let's play itself.
a) What I know already: the Oracles are actually a pair of games that can be played in either order. They are Oracle of Seasons, and Oracle of Ages. When you beat the first game, you get a password that turns the other game into a sequel. Ages is more puzzle-oriented, whereas Seasons is more action-oriented. Canonically, Oracle of Seasons comes first, but it really doesn't matter as far as the plot goes. That is the extent of my knowledge.
b) Because I like to be contrary, I'll play Oracle of Ages first. And because I prefer puzzles to action. Updates will be Tuesdays and Fridays, barring some exceptions for my schedule.
c) I'll be using a new update process for this. First, I'll capture a video of the entire gameplay content of the update using Microsoft Expression. Then, I'll get screenshots from the video using Greenshot. Finally, I'll compile the screenshots into an update with commentary. This means there is absolutely no way for me to miss a screenshot, because it'll all be on video. Plus transcribing dialogue will be a hell of a lot easier, because I won't have to take seperate screenshots for every single line.
With all that out of the way, let's begin!
Today will just be the opening cutscene. Tomorrow is when the real adventure begins.
- opening cutscene:
Judging by the flashing lights and swishy animation, it seems Link has been teleported somewhere important by the Triforce. We'll find out where that somewhere important is tomorrow, and what we're going to be doing there!
Remember kids, if you ever want to teleport, all you need are some flashing lights and swishy animations.

Question! If you're recording a video of this, why not just post the video instead of screenshots?

Because he doesn't have a YouTube account?

That can be easily solved I think.

Re: [Blind] Legend of Zelda: Oracles (Part 7—Beware the Forest's Bunnies!)
I have a YouTube account, but there are two problems with that:
1) I have limited Internet, and screenshots are much less data-intensive than a video;
2) I feel much more comfortable doing a screenshot LP, given that I live in a house with other people. Plus, I would need a microphone.
It's something I'd consider when I move out or head off to college, but not so much in my current situation.
Of course, I could post videos only for the cutscenes. But I found during my To the Moon LP that that really just adds an unnecessary layer of complexity to the updates, which causes delays.

[Blind] Legend of Zelda: Oracles (Part 1—The Phantom Sorceress!)
Update!
- Part 1:
Guide us, almighty acorn, along the path to righteousness! Also known as File 1.
I believe "Game Link" is where you're supposed to enter the password to make this game into a sequel to Seasons. But we're not doing that because that is illegal and illegal isn't our style!
Ah.
I... think this renames Link? Maybe? I dunno, we'll find out.
If it does, he better be prepared for a lot of jokes about how he was named after his hat.
Who's talking!? How did you know I was a hero!? Do I have a choice!? DON'T I HAVE FREE WILL!? I HAVE A LAWYER!
Oh wait, I forgot, protagonists have some curse which compels them to accept all quests, no matter how vague or ludicrous.
Um... okay.
There's no music or anything.
Can I move?
Indeed I can! Let's explore.
PROTAGONIST DRIVE ACTIVATING
MUST SAVE BLUE LADY FROM OCTOPUS
And with no input or threat from us, the octopi abandon ship! VICTORY FOR THE MERCILESS HERO!
That was frightening!
I was suddenly attacked...
Thank you, traveler. What is your name?
Cap, is it? I bet you were named after your hat
I see a ▲ on the back of your left hand. That is the sign of a Hyrulean hero!
Hyrule warrior, actually, but thanks for asking. :B
That must be why the beasts fled.
I am Impa, nurse to Hyrule's Princess Zelda.
I am looking for a singer named Nayru.
Will you help me look, Cap? I'd feel safer with you nearby.
...Why is a nurse out looking for a singer?
Oh well. Let's go up here!
Are those... monkeys? Kinda hard to tell
such clean
very nature
wow
What a great spot! Such clean air!
Now if only time could stop!
...Be careful what you wish for, buddy
Let's talk to the other monkey!
This is the animal's utopia!
Soon more animals come!
Good for you!
Oh! That's it!
This rock with the ▲ is a sign!
Could you move this rock for me, Cap?
I'll... um... I'll just...
I can't do it...
...
I don't trust her.
I like cities! Except in real life. Real life cities terrify me. They're so big and peoplish. I only like video game cities.
But anyway, I think we have to go to the house first. :B
After you! ...Except I can't say that because she's programmed to follow me. :V
Ooo pretty music
It seems that girl is singing the pretty music!
I'm just gonna post screenshots of me talking to everyone because I don't feel like grabbing all those sprites.
No one's stoppin' ya, ya ornery bird
Hey guys! What's the study of bad-tempered birds?- answer:
- Ornerithology
*pompous British art critic voice* Mmm, yess, charming, absolutely spiffulous
I vote for the bunny as a better singer.
If we talk to the art critic bear again, he moves for us, so we can join the crowd.
ANIME HAIR ON THE DOUBLE!
You're Hyrule's messengers, aren't you!
That's not a question, apparently. :B
Impa and Cap, right? A bird brought message of your arrival.
Speaking of Impa, where'd she go?
My name is Ralph! I am an old friend of Nayru's.
We're counting on you.
Thank you.
You've come all the way from Hyrule, correct?
Pleased to meet you. I am Nayru.
I've been very worried after hearing that Labrynna would face many evil troubles.
Don't worry, Nayru! I'm here.
I'll chase away any beast that comes near you!
Sorry, Cap, but I doubt we'll need you.
But... but... protagonist D:
I'm sorry, Cap. Ralph is always like this when it comes to me.
But I feel that something evil is approaching, just as Ralph claims...
I WAS RIGHT YOU ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY
Ah hah hah hah!
You are correct! Not bad for a diva...
Not bad for Nayru, Oracle of Ages! Something terrible will happen right now before your very eyes!
VIDEO GAMES: TEACHING THAT BLUE PEOPLE ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED SINCE AT LEAST 2001
WAY TO GO, CAPCOM
Thank you, Cap!
You allowed me to pass through the sacred barrier! I've been waiting for this moment!
I am Veran, Sorceress of Shadows!
Nayru! Oracle of Ages! I shall make your body my own!
Ah hah hah hah!
What are you doing to Nayru?
I'll cut you in two if you don't let her go!
Hah! Aren't you brave! Turning a sword at me!
If you cut me, it's Nayru who dies!
Nayru is no mere diva! She is the Oracle of Ages, who controls time!
Now the oracle's powers are mine.
I can travel through time as I choose!
Now a new age shall begin...
The age of darkness!!! Ah hah hah hah!
And now I shall use my time powers to carry out my VAGUELY NEFARIOUS PLAN! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!!!
I shall go to the past and do as I please!
Veran turned her boyfriend into a Smurf! AND THAT'S TERRIBLE!
That Veran! She couldn't touch the stone so she used you to get in here!
I couldn't help it! The protagonist drive was too strong! D:
I've known Nayru was the Oracle of Ages since she was a child.
I have always been beside her, protecting her.
But now this!!! NAYRU!!!
Nayru!!! Wait! I'll save you! NAYRU!!!
Aaaaand he runs off.
Oh! Cap! You saved me!
To think I was possessed!
Shadows were surrounding the Oracle of Ages, so I came hoping to take her to Hyrule.
I had no idea this would happen...
............
That Veran lady is frightening.
I was forced to do her will, in spite of myself.
I believe you mean despite. "In spite" would imply some malice on your part.
Veran said she'd go back in time.
She must be planning to use Nayru's power to launch some sort of plan in the past.
Labrynna already feels the effects.
How do you know?
If it's true, we must stop her...
Uhh! My limbs feel so heavy after what Veran did. I can't move them very easily.
Cap... If the ▲ on your left hand is real, then you may be the hero who will save this world.
Please help us!
Ah, yes! Zelda entrusted this sword to me. You may use it.
We got a twiiiiiiig!
Hold A or B to charge it up, then release it for a spin attack!
Cap, can you go meet the Maku Tree in Lynna Village?
I thought it was Lynna City?
The Maku Tree is the guardian of Labrynna. Surely she can help.
Don't call me Shirley.
Nayru's House is in the woods east of here. I'll be there.
Alright, let's head down to Lynna City/Village!
With this sword... I CAN MOW THE LAWN!
Oh, hey! Mowing the lawn got me a rupee.
This place looks like the entrance to the city!
PLOT-INDUCED LAWN MOWING!
I think this is a good place to stop! Next time, we'll be visiting the Maku Tree, and... getting stuff done! See you guys then.

This is hilarious and a love it.
But wait...Nayru (pre-possession) and Ralph are blue. Does that mean we can't trust them?! (As well as every Fire Emblem protagonist team and the Smurfs.)

Didn't realize these were GB Color games until now (thought they were GBA games for some reason). I looked the games up on Wikipedia after seeing the GB Color-like graphics in the screenshots and learned two things: One was that both games were critically acclaimed, and the other thing was that a third game was originally planned to go with them, but it made things too complicated when trying to tie all three together, so they scrapped the third game idea.
Also, this was funny!
Also, this was funny!

There is a secret shop that unlocks when you play on a Game Boy Advance.

I thought these games were much later than that until I saw the first screenshots of the overworld.jokool wrote:Didn't realize these were GB Color games until now (thought they were GBA games for some reason).

Like DS or something or even something other than hand-held. I didn't really think about it.
