Sin and Punishment - Persona 2 x 2

Shin Megami Tensei (True Goddess Reincarnation) is one of the older RPGs out there. Originally starting as a series of novels (yes, really), it eventually got a sequel-ish thing on the NES, called Megami Tensei (Goddess Reincarnation) which then got a sequel-ish thing also on the NES. Continuity rebooted with Shin Megami Tensei on the SNES, which then got a sequel (although only one character returned, and not for long). Gameplay was a dungeon crawler from a first person perspective, also you recruited demons to your side, not unlike Pokémon (except, you know, demons intentional).

Why open up with this? Because this is SMT's little brother. The first game, Revelations: Persona, also known as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona to those who were disgusted by the first one's Americanization/never heard of it was released between SMTII and SMTIII when Atlus realized "oh hey we still need to make money". (SMTIII came out on the PlayStation 2) Gameplay then mostly consisted of grid-based combat, and talking to demons, trying to get their precious spell cards to fuse into Personas, which give you a boost to stats and also skills. This game was released later on the PlayStation, in two versions. Innocent Sin never came to America, possibly because of the Hitlerness mentioned above, while its sequel, Eternal Punishment, did. The first one stars a dude, the second one stars a girl. We'll start with Innocent Sin first - while Eternal Punishment is mostly standalone, I prefer doing things in order. shut up Marilith
