because it was 7:30 when I started...
now leave me alone over an argument that doesn't hold water as I have a valid excuse.

What I meant was the biggest thing missing from your first post - the introductory cutscenes - was before where you learned how to save, and therefore before "well, shit, I have to go to bed".

wrong again.
by the time my emulator FINALLY decided to work, I was in a hurry to get the post done before bed.
that's why it was rushed, is because mom makes me get ready ten minutes before bed even though I only need two. and the emulator stopped giving me distorted sound effects and music, it was 8:40
and I go to bed at 9 o'clock
so I only had TEN minutes to gt everything done.

So then wait for tomorrow to make the post.

Besides, how the hell was I supposed to know that you were having emulation issues? Or that your mom makes you get ready for bed at 8:50? I'm not exactly psychic.

Let's calm down guys. Lief, just let it go, it's not too big of a deal. ROMCH, at least you know how much time you might need for updates now, so you can plan ahead. If you need more time, you might need to wait until the next day, especially with technical issues and such. If you need to keep your update on hold so you can edit it later, you can save it as a draft here, or as a document or sticky note on your computer. (Make sure it's the code and not the WYSIWYG version.)

then I guess I had the right idea with the first real update, as I drafted that before class, and finished it at lunch.

update 2: to the second chapter!:

well... after I got looking for some hint coins, I talked to the only guy there, and he had directions to the mayor's house. but he won't give it to me unless... you guessed it, I solve a puzzle:
the solution is not so simple, but it works...
I also learn that the "giant" attacking the town hasn't killed anyone because an "oracle" tells when and where the "giant" is going to attack, and tells the police to evacuate everyone immediately.
but before I get into town, I solve another puzzle, but this is a puzzle that doesn't go in the log, because it's related to the story itself and not some average joe and his problem.

first guess is correct, WOOT WOOT!
after that I head to a dock, which BTW is the main means of fast travel in this game, so yeah...
but before I can move on, the boat's owner needs me to solve a time-tested puzzle

and the solution...

after that, I find the house and met clark who tells us some shocking news... HE DIDN'T WRITE THE LETTER!!!!! layton suggests it's a prank, but clark says it's not, and the "giant" is a specter from the town's mythology.
so layton agrees to help clark, and decides to see luke(who was a baby last time layton saw him), who is locked inside his room.
luke gives a puzzle before he will open his door.
he doesn't tell me what to do, but gives me a warning...
"you can't do anything to solve this puzzle"
well... if you inspect every item in the hallway, (including the door, the doorknob, and the welcome mat) it has a number from one to seven...
here's the second "story puzzle" solution...

you see,the numbers were a red herring, as the answer to the puzzle is to do nothing for 15 seconds, as that "warning" is actually what you had to do to solve it...
so we get in, luke says the end of the world is near, and then the butler tells luke it's time for bed, but layton caught on to something, and asks luke if he knows where the specter is going to be tonight...
luke answers!!!!!
the butler confesses that luke is indeed the oracle. and promise not to tell clark that luke is going to spend the night with layton just to see the specter close up.
see you next time!

I need to play a Professor Layton game. I have a friend who's obssesed, and if it wasn't for her I don't think I'd even discover it. However, because of her love of the franchise, it's perked my interest for a few years. And then I discovered the Ace Attorney vs Prof. Layton game thing, and I'm like, "No way. I need to get this." Because I'm interested in both series but never even laid my hands on one of them... :I
