Re: Announcements Thread
I did some reviews on Bulbagarden but I'd be lying if I said they were professional-esque.

Re: Announcements Thread
I've thought about doing reviews of stuff before, especially video games that I might play on my channel (whenever that happens ). I'll use it for other stuff too, but expect me to really put it to use once I get my Youtube "career" going.

Re: Announcements Thread
Updates still tentatively planned for this week:
Feel free to suggest additions to this list at any time.
Also, on the subject of "forum-wide events other than just the occasional anniversary and holiday theme," I was thinking maybe we could have some sort of a monthly contest. Here's what I had in mind:
The winning team for each month gets some little bragging-rights badges for their profile based on their color, mascot, and name. In addition, each time a faction wins, they get to have the forum background in their color for the next month.
I was thinking the factions could be based on the four temperaments, but that's just because I don't have any other ideas. Feel free to suggest some. :B
- updates for this week that are still tentatively planned:
- Better navigation bar;
- Simplification of the forum rules;
- Better notification system (expectations low on this one though);
- Better mobile site (see previous);
- Update to the forum search (see previous previous);
- Update to the new user message (probably minor, I read it recently and it seemed alright still);
- Perhaps some updates to the profile fields;
- Either thread descriptions for every thread OR some other way to at least clarify a thread's purpose beyond the title when it splits;
- In addition to all this, I'll be going through the forum interface with a fine-tooth comb to find any confusing, strange, or just plain ugly buttons and such.

Also, on the subject of "forum-wide events other than just the occasional anniversary and holiday theme," I was thinking maybe we could have some sort of a monthly contest. Here's what I had in mind:
- There are a number of seperate teams or factions. Each member takes some sort of a personality test to decide which faction they belong to. Each faction chooses a team color, team mascot, and team name.
- At the end of every month, we take a score. Some sort of a weighted average that takes into account each of the following:
- Number of posts;
- Number of threads posted in;
- Number of likes received;
- Number of threads started;
- Number of wins for certain games in the Game Room (First Poster Wins, Who's That Pokemon!?, etc.)

Re: Announcements Thread
the factions could be determined by choice at first, then by balancing out numbers after oh so many join a team.

Re: Announcements Thread
I feel like a personality test would help give the teams a more defined identity, though, and a point to work around when deciding the mascot, color, and name. But yeah, we'll still have to balance it out.
It doesn't even have to be four factions; since we have such a small amount of regulars, maybe two would be ideal for now.

We don't have enough female regulars for that.

Re: Announcements Thread
Then how about Dunspach and Dunspach Jr. (since they're mascots already)?

*isn't all that fond of the current temperament test*
I think I wouldn't mind a little extra competition.

Re: Announcements Thread
^^ Again, I feel we should go with something that gives the teams something to rally around and have a certain unpredictability about the results.
How about the right or left brain test? It's only 30 questions, gives you two results (left brain or right brain), and whoever gets a score within ~8% of each other can go on the side with less people.
^ I don't remember being very satisfied with it either; I'll find a new one later.

I like this test, it feels unbiased. I scored pretty much an even split.Caprizant wrote:How about the right or left brain test? It's only 30 questions, gives you two results (left brain or right brain), and whoever gets a score within ~8% of each other can go on the side with less people.
