I'm not sure if I'll try it this time. Last year was an epic failure, and this time, I still haven't worked out enough to try anything...

That's why I'm bringing it up almost 2 months in advance, we all failed last year but I have a feeling this year will be different!

I can't decide between 4 ideas:
1) screw rules and use it as a chance to type out chapters of Dreams and Realities
2) screw rules and use it as a chance to continue work on my original thing from last year
3) work on a pokéfic set in a region i've been working on which is about a couple going on a journey
4) finally do stuff on my fic set in orre

Dreams and Realities!

I'm sure which ever one you go with will be great, you're a good writer!

So we're just reusing the old thread instead of making a new one?

Re: National Novel Writing Month

Post by Burnin' Bunnies on 22nd September 2014, 9:11 pm

this is what I had typed up last year for my nanowrimo, lol. I had a little more hand written in a journal, but haven't typed it up. This was based on a dream i had that i still distinclty remember. i'm thinking of maybe trying to continue this.:
Sam, Selene, Shorel, Sabor, Seth, and Shawni

Pride. Honor. Bravery. Qualities of a Hero. Only six men. Will you be one?

Sam stared at the faded poster. He’d past it for months everyday, only just now noticing what was on it. Faint echoes from a commercial on TV pounded in his head.
“Only six men. Explore the depths of…” The depths of what, again? Sam knew he should know the answer- the commercial was repeated everyday.
This ad has been issued by the Inter Galactic Government.

Sam chuckled. No wonder. The IGG meant nothing to everyone. He walked on. The IGG did nothing but waste funds no one had. No wonder he couldn’t remember.

Kate: The Inter Galactic Government has completed its project of a six-man crew ship, a dream announced nearly twenty years ago. We’re here with the spokesman of the Spectrum Project, Zan Gorman. Zan, why has the Spectrum Project taken two decades to complete?”
Gorman: Well, Kate, I’m glad you asked. You see…

The alarm sounded as the door open, informing Andrea Wells that her son, Sam, was home. His call confirmed her suspicions. “Hey!”
“I’ll be down in a moment!” She called, saving the news article to finish later. Swiveling in her seat, Andrea carefully adjusted her leg braces, preparing her mind for the discomfort of walking. Standing slowly, ensuring the metal wouldn’t buckle underneath her, Andrea crossed the hall and rushed down the stairs.
Sam was in the kitchen shuffling through the cabinets. The TV was on in the background, a commercial about a hair product that supposedly prevented hair from getting messed up in the rain. He finally pulled back, a disappointed look on his face. “We don’t have any more spiced chocolate?”
Andrea raised an eyebrow. “You finished those off a month ago.”
“Oh.” Sam stuck his head in the cabinet again. “Then what can I eat?”
Andrea sighed. “There’s plenty of food in there.”
“None of it is any good.”
“You should be thankful. Many families don’t have full cabinets like ours.”
Sam looked at her dumbly. “Why didn’t they stock up months ago? Everyone knew there’d be soldiers coming in.”
Andrea shifted uneasily. “Not everyone can afford getting a three month supply of items, you know. And many people didn’t listen, believing that The Occupation was just rumors.”
“Since when did the Jorjens ever joke?” He replied darkly.
Andrea glanced at the TV-An Inter Galactic promise of “peace and safety”- and nervously massaged her hands. “I’ve hidden some breaded cheese sticks in the back of the fridge’s middle-right drawer.”
Sam brightened up. “When were you going to tell me this?” He threw the fridge door open and immediately pulled at the drawer, scavenging around for the small box of cheese sticks.
“I was saving them for a special occasion…” Andrea muttered.
Sam pulled back, a breaded cheese stick held ceremoniously in his hands. “Truly a worthy treat. I will surely morn its loss later.” He solemnly placed the food on a plate and put it in the microwave to heat up.
Andrea rolled her eyes. “You can only have that one. I don’t want to find them all gone by tomorrow. You must ask before getting into them, or I’ll hide them again.” Sam snickered.
“Seriously though. You’ll never be able to find them. And I’ll never buy anymore. You need to stop being so picky.” Andrea walked to the cabinet as the microwave beeped, informing the two that the food was done.
“I know, Mom.” Sam smiled sweetly as he let her have the first bite.
The scene melted into one of horror. The ground shook, glass burst from windows. Screams. Blood. Orange and red flashes. Shining, curved objects…

Sam jolted up from his bed, drenched in sweat, his blue eyes glowing in fear. He had been reliving these memories from years ago almost every day. The times where he didn’t understand poverty and was ignorant to what was happening in the world. But those times were long gone. He’d been swiftly recovered and transported to a new world shortly after the Jorjen attack. Those Jorjens…he still had yet to see what they looked like. His mother had made sure he’d never lay his eyes on one of “those hideous beasts”, as she’d referred to them. Even in her death, she kept his eyes covered with her body. He’d only been found when The Regional Planetary Police searched for survivors an entire day after the massacre.
He adjusted his blankets and rolled onto his side, staring into the darkness. He wouldn’t be able to fall asleep again. He shouldn’t even try to. Frowning, Sam threw the blanket towards his feet and swiveled out of bed, his bare feet landing on a cold floor.
If only he could do something. He was unable to help eight years ago, but he would be 20 in less than a year. Surely there was something…
Sam tiptoed to the dying fire. It would be sunrise in little while. He could wait for first light, then try to go out and find something. Anything. He sighed. No, he was needed here at the restaurant. If he left, he’d no longer have a job, and another random boy from off the streets would be given a bed and some food. No, if he left here, he’d be in no better spot than he was now. Sam sighed and sat down in front of the fire, watching the light flicker off his legs. Maybe he didn’t need to do anything. Wasn’t the Inter Galactic Government up to something? It’s all over the world. People dressed up in silver, asking weird questions to random people, kidnapping people in the middle of the night. Nice government, huh?
Sam chuckled darkly. Now wasn’t the time to be dwelling on these matters. He needed to get ready for the day. He stirred the fire, added a few sticks to the flames, and gazed into the mesmerizing flames. Explore the depths of space. He shook his head. A fool’s dream. There was nothing he could do. Sam walked over to the small closet, rummaged through the small arrangements of homemade clothing, and finally pulled out a simple outfit. The shirt was tan, with a small stain on the bottom from a spilled drink that must have happened years ago. The pants were a little short on Sam, but were comfortable and complemented the shirt with a navy blue.  He glanced at himself in a small, stained mirror. He was in need of a hair trimming. He fingered the blonde gristle on his jaw. A shave would be nice too.
Shrugging, Sam treaded on the dusty floor to the window, peeking through it to see a small ray of sun brighten the sky behind a building. So, the day had begun.  He had barely thought this when a bang on his door sounded.
“Hey, boy! Be out here in three minutes! We open in 10.” Sam opened the door to the surprise of the man, his fist still in the air. “That was quick.” The man grunted, his deep voice showing little emotion.
“Woke up early.” Sam watched the heavily bearded man’s dark eyes. So this was the resturant’s owner, the man who called all the shots.
He grunted. “When me wife said she found a youngun, I wasn’t expecting a responsible one.  Especially not an early riser. Get to the fires, boy!” He sharply pointed down the halls with his thumb to the kitchen. “I expect them to still me burnin’ brightly by the time dinner comes.” He turned away, walking down the hall to the right. Sam turned to the left and headed to the kitchen. He was obviously receiving no more instruction.
The halls were thin and lined with wood panels, the old paint peeling from pictures that must have once been majestic, but were now barely visible. Sam had expected the hall to be lit with fires to match the look and the ancient feel, but bright flourecence lights dangled above. This building was just as mismatched as the rest of the world. He’d been in this city-world for eight years now and was still finding many surprises around every corner. Just stumbling upon the restaurant last night was a shock.

Remember earlier today when I said I had finally created an emote life cycle that I was happy with? Welp, turns out it had a huge glaring issue in it which would screw everything I have up, so instead I'm going to keep working on it, meaning that Dreams and Realities, which relies heavily on the emote life cycle will be on stand by till I resolve the issue :T

Why am I posting it here? Because this helped me decide on what to write for NaNo!

I will write Tranquil Nightmares! Tranquil Nightmares takes place before the events of Dreams and Realities and focuses less on the emote life cycle and more on the dreamworld which I forgot how I called it and what it means to be a Dream or Nightmare, so stay tuned for that coming soon!

So, since some of you guys are doing art stuffs for NaNo, what are your goals gonna be?

30 comic pages? 50? 9001!!??

I had an odd idea the other day that I probably won't do. It's a Highschool of the Dead fanfic that basically takes out the zombies from the series. Sort of a "what if" thing.

My goal would probably be 35 pages. I won't have time to do color, so traditional work will have to do for now, and I know I won't have a ton of time to work, so 35 sounds somewhat reasonable with my work load.

I may end up not doing Nano this year because of Chemistry and English, but maybe. :I
