Re: Your Local Music Thread
I've pulled out a number of Vocaloid songs from the past to listen to while I write my paper. Right now Luka's Dancer in the Dark is playing.

I had a completely different idea of what this thread was about when I saw the title, but I thought to myself "well, it makes sense Caprizant would make it".

I've had "Ping Pong" by Stereolab stuck in my head all day. So much so that I recorded myself singing along because I've never done that before and I wanted to hear myself. I thought I did okay.

Re: Your Local Music Thread
So yesterday, I decided to listen to all 5 of Breaking Benjamin's albums. My conclusion is that, while the first two albums (Saturate and We Are Not Alone) are okay, it's amazing how much better the third album (Phobia) is from the first two. It's almost like a new band took over for Phobia (and it turns out that, after looking it up, they did have a change in their band in between their second and third albums).
The last two were also pretty good, and each one also has it's own uniqueness to it (and with reasons, given that Dear Agony (4th album) was reported to be the first ever Breaking Benjamin record to be written by Benjamin Burnley without the aid of alcohol, and Dawn Before Dark (latest album) was done after a hiatus and complete band redo (besides Burnley) because of legal issues with the previous band members).
So, in ranking them, I'd say that Phobia is my favorite (plan on getting it eventually), followed by Dawn Before Dark, Dear Agony, We Are Not Alone, and Saturate.

I feel like their last album is their best record yet. It's very similar to Phobia, but betters it in almost every way. There is a fresher sound and even some new experimentation (Ashes of Eden, anyone?). Plus I feel like Ben's voice sounds the best on Dark Before Dawn.
As for the first two albums, I feel like they were still trying to find their sound. There is some good stuff on them, though. Polyamorous is probably my favorite song overall by the band, So Cold is what got me into the band in the first place, and Medicate and Rain are pretty good as well.

Re: Your Local Music Thread
So I can't remember if I mentioned this, but a few months ago, my old boss before he left for another store mentioned a singer by the name of Melanie Martinez and recommended her debut album Cry Baby.
Turns out that Google Play has her album on sale this week for $.99, and given that I had enough from surveys, I decided to pick it up.
It is mental, but awesome!

Got Nickelback autoplaying on Youtube. One of the guys was playing Nickelback on his speakers and so it reminded me how much I used to listen to them.

Oh my god her music is insane. Like, there's some next level BDSM shit worked into that stuff. Yet through all that, it's good quality music. If we're talking about single female artists, though I prefer Melanie to Marina + The Diamonds, I definitely like Halsey and Lana del Rey a little bit more.
The interesting part is that she started on The Voice. She might as well be the biggest singer to ever come out of that show, and she wasn't even a finalist. Hell, she wasn't even a semifinalist.

Re: Your Local Music Thread
Given that the parameters of this thread are mostly covered by Post a Song, I think this should either be archived or changed. I'm thinking it could be a thread for discussing music news/concerts you're going to/etc.

Re: Your Local Music Thread
Definitely a general music discussion thread would work better imo.
